The photography captures the beauty of each individual in revealing portraits. This unique, artistic, photography book is born from Marisa Ignacio Hormel’s passion captured by Melinda Lerner’s prowess.
Marisa Ignacio Hormel is a graduate of Georgetown University with a Bachelor of Arts in Fine Art and a graduate of New York University with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. While in NYC, she worked as an Investment Consultant at Andrew Garrett, Inc. She is a member of the Actor’s Equity Association and the Screen Actors Guild. She is a proud sponsor of the New York Foundation for the Arts, the Professional Dancers Society, the Fruit Tree Planting Foundation, the Organic Consumers Association, and the Organic Farming Research Foundation.
Melinda Lerner (1959-2016) is the author and photographer of King of the Urban Jungle, Dog Fight, and Child’s Play. Her subjects included actress and singer Brittany Murphy. Her work is held in private collections and has been exhibited in numerous galleries from Los Angeles to The Saatchi Gallery in London.
Marisa’s commitment to the arts, as well as a healthy mind and body through food is borne from her life’s work. She is the author of the wellness art book, Bodies on Raw. Her passion is to share the knowledge that food fuels the mind, body, and soul. Marisa is a proud sponsor of the New York Foundation for the Arts, the Professional Dancers Society, the Fruit Tree Planting Foundation, the Organic Consumers Association, and the Organic Farming Research Foundation. She has a BA from Georgetown University and a BS from New York University.
Jennifer is the treasurer for the Food for Health Foundation. She also concurrently serves as the treasurer for the Thomas Dubois Hormel Foundation and as the CEO of the MIH private family trust and oversees financial planning, legal contracts, and program budgets. Jennifer holds an MBA from Pepperdine University and a BA from the University of San Francisco. She currently resides in San Diego, CA, although she spent many years feeling at home in New York and San Francisco. Her interests include theater, animal rescue, and plant-based nutrition.
Mary Ellen is the secretary for the Food for Health Foundation. Working for 30 years in design and branding, she is also responsible for the marketing and promotion of the foundation. Mary Ellen is an alumna of the Pennsylvania State University with a BA in Graphic Design. In addition to being secretary on the board and a graduate of the Center for Nutrition Studies Plant-Based Nutrition course, Mary Ellen enjoys growing flowers and veggies, exploring the Florida coast, and has recently ventured into sports photography. She currently resides in Northeast Florida with her husband and teenage twins.
